Advertising Wed. wk 3-4

Today you get to luck out, two advertisements for one day!
Of course this is due all in part to the fact that I never posted
one for last week. D'oh!

This first one, well I have no idea when it's from, but there's
another add on the back with recipe involving Diamond walnuts.
I enjoy the bright colors that spring about on the page all cheerful like getting me in the mood for some pineapple. I looove pineapple, even though it's loaded with sugar all by itself.

And seeing as it's St. Patties day time for some coffee. After all you can always 'Irish up' your coffee. See what I did there? Hurhur.

This would have been any were between 1943-1948. Toss Sanka Coffee into wiki. and it turns out:
"Coffee pots with a bright orange handle are a direct result of the American public's association of the color orange with Sanka, no matter which brand of coffee is actually served."

Kitty Friday 2

These to pretties are 'the twins' even if they aren't. When they were kittens you couldn't tell them apart. The one being nonchalant is Tom and the one watching to make sure I didn't charge them is Huck. Poor Huck didn't get handled enough as a child to trust us like his siblings, but he's warming up to the fact that we're not going to hurt him... unless he has to go to the vet then it just sets every thing back by a couple of months.

And this is my big bucket of furry purring love Tom, had to take a nap after a long day of lounging in the sun and chasing his sister for a few minutes. It's hard work being a cat.

Spring into the Week

This little pretty was found, along with a number of other letters and postcards and other things that got trashed thanks to termites and to much age, had a bit of termite damage but thanks to a high resolution ability of the scanner and phothoshop it looks good at new!

The cancellation stamp shows that it was mailed July 6th in the 5pm post. The date never took but I can tell it would have been before May 1928 because there was newspaper lining the wicker suite case it was stored away in.

The top portion you likely can't read, unless you have eyes like a hawk on steroids, says "Flower bordered walks and drives. Showing eucalyptus trees. Edysian Park. Los Angels, Cal."
The back has the same description on the back along with "A beautiful spot overlooking the city, containing about 548 acres, which still in its natural state of trees, underbrush and interesting trails, affords one of the most interesting drives for the autoist winding through out the hills, overlooking the surrounding country."
Along the side "Published by Western Publishing Novelty Co, Los Angeles, CAL.

Kitty Fridays

I've found that the best way for me to keep up this blog is to assign a day here and there with some sort of theme. So now we have Kitty Fridays!

This here is Jr. he's a big love bug, and when I say big I mean BIG! He's just large around the mid section, though he does try to deny it.

Above he is trying to be a typical cat, regal and majestic.

Advertising Wednesday's wk 2

Time to start a weekly something or other so why not some old time advertising?

This is from the back of a recipe my grandmother cut out who knows how long ago to save, I'm a little sad that it's just this one panel, but people didn't think that advertisements back then would be of any interest today. Makes you wonder what our kids or grand kids will think of advertisements from the magazines or newspapers we read today.

Oh and the reason I decided for Wednesday's to be the weekly doda is because the first ad I posted, the sewing machine one, was on a Wednesday. Tada!
